Magical Moon Pocket Letter

Good day friends! My name is Tammy Lee, and I am @hey.its.tam.tam on Instagram. Today I’m sharing a pocket letter using the digital stamps Crystal Ball and Potion Bottles from DoodleDaisiesandInk. We’ll also have a bonus mini tutorials for the crepe paper rosette. Here’s what we’ll be making today:

Let’s get started. Here’s what you’ll need:

Cardstock papers of your choice

Trading/Baseball card sleeve

Paper trimmer or scissors

Double sided tape or glue (any adhesive, as long as it sticks)

Embellishments/washi tape of your choice

Sequins (or gems/enamel dots)

For the rosette: crepe paper and staples

For this pocket letter, I’m also using the paper collections “Moon Child” by Prima Marketing and “Orion’s Belt” by recollections. First you’ll need a trading card or baseball card sleeve. I get mine from Walmart, but they can be found at many stores and online from companies like amazon. Then you need to cut your cardstock papers. You’ll need 9 rectangles at 2.5”x3.5”. If you don’t have a paper trimmer, you can use scissors and a ruler.

I like placing my elements on the outside of the pockets instead of the usual way of decorating inside. This allows me to create larger embellishment clusters like this one using the Doodledaisiesandink digital stamps, crystal ball and potion bottles:

More embellishment clusters using more of the digital stamps and elements from the Moon Child and Orion’s Belt papers.

Now for the rosette. Here’s a view of it:

They’re so easy, but they take practice. What I do is cut a strip of crepe paper about 12” long. I then start pinching the top with my fingers until a circle is formed. Then I staple the center. Don’t worry about the staples being ugly because you’ll be covering that with a sticker or embellishment. For this project, I’m using a Martha Stewart unicorn seal sticker. If you need more help, there’s tons of tutorials on YouTube. My best advice: don’t give up. It took me a LOT of tries before I got it, and now I can do it in a minute.

Now for the finishing touches. I chose to do sequins clusters but you can use gemstones or enamel dots for the little touches to bring it together. I used a paper strip from the Orion’s Belt paper pad and taped it on the side, but washi tape works great! You can only leave the side alone. There’s no wrong answers here!

That’s it! I hope you enjoyed this magical pocket letter and thank you for reading! Feel free to tag me on Instagram @hey.its.tam.tam if you decide to create your own version of this!
