Hey Doodle Babes!
Celia from Paper Beats Rock Designs back with a project using the Bloom and Grow stamp from Doodle Daisies and Ink's Spring Collection!
I created this art journal page by first blending some blue powder pigments from a Jane Davenport palette across the two pages. Then I sketched the background flowers with a sort of 1 line/scribble technique.
I colored my stamped image with alchohol markers and watercolors and watercolored the flowers to match.
When I placed my image onto the journal, something wasn't right, they just didn't mesh well. I almost skipped over that background entirely, and painted 2 other backgrounds. But they weren't working either.
So, then I went back to the flower background and drew over my water colored flowers with a fine tip sharpie. *Make sure all paint and paper is dry before using the sharpie. And it's good to designate a specific pen to mixedmedia projects so you dont ruin your favorite writing pens*
Anywho, that's what it was missing, a little bit of black in the background and it all came together. I went over my Blossom girl with the sharpie as well and layered a little bit of crinkled vellum behind her so she stands out a little more. I was really surprised at how much I liked it in the end, being so unsure while I was working on it. And now I have 2 other backgrounds that are half way done!
